CSM Roderick D. Taylor attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard wood, Missouri and completed Combat Medical Specialist Military Occupational Skills Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. CSM Taylor's military assignments include: 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, LA; United States Army Medical Department Center (MEDDAC), Fort Polk, LA; 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea; USA MEDDAC, Fort Polk, LA; Joint Readiness Training Center Surgeon Cell, USA MEDDAC, Fort Polk, LA; 565th (GA) Company, Fort Polk, LA; Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, DC; Alpha Company 232nd Medical Battalion, Fort Sam Houston, TX; 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI; Charlie Company 325th Brigade Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI; William Beaumont Army Medical Center First Sergeant, Bravo and Charlie Company.

He has held numerous leadership positions as a Medical Evacuations NCO, Senior Drill Sergeant, Senior Line Medic, Operations NCO, Medical Operations NCO, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Retention NCO, Department of Surgery NCOIC, Directorate of Telemedicine NCOIC, First Sergeant (3), and Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Taylor has completed all levels of NCOPDS, and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 66). He also attended the AMEDD Executive Skills Course, AMEDD Pre-Command Course, Brigade and Battalion Pre-Command Course and the CSM Development Program; Basic Healthcare Administration Course, Emergency Medical Technician Course, Battle Staff, Drill Sergeant Course (Commandants list), Master Resiliency Training Course, Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handlers Course, Medical Management CBRNE Casualty Course, Modern Army Combatives Program Level I & II certified, Commanders Safety Course, Support Operations (Phase 1), Brigade Combat Medical Trauma Team Training (BCT3), Environmental Compliance Officer Course, TMDE support coordinator Course, and Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course phase I and II. He holds an Associate's Degree in General Studies, Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and Master's Degree in Business Management.

CSM Taylor has deployed to Bosnia for peacekeeping operations, and participated in combat deployments to include two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terror.
